If you love to play baseball or softball, or want to improve your skills this summer, Camp Lohikan’s your camp!
Campers 10 and older get to pick their activities at Camp Lohikan. That means you can schedule as much baseball or softball instruction and playing time as you want! You can specialize or play baseball/softball in the morning and do rock band, tennis, jet skiing, pottery or any of our arts, sports, and adventure activities in the afternoon! It’s a free-choice program for campers entering sixth grade and older.
Younger campers receive field sports as an activity 8 hours (periods) every week. The Field Sports activity includes baseball/softball as an option.
We have a very active baseball and softball program at Camp Lohikan. We schedule daily instructional classes, play recreational games, and compete in a summer long inter-camp games program in all age groups! We also operate special programs and clinics like the Golden Glove Fielding Clinic, the Batting Cage Competition, and more!
Our teaching philosophy is based upon our experience that learning with FUN is the best way for kids to learn. Activity instruction covers the fundamentals and from there progresses to address every aspect of the sport. From beginner to advanced, campers learn at their own pace in a fun, relaxed, stress-free environment.
Our field sports director is a professional with teaching experience in the camp setting. Baseball and softball instructors are undergraduate/graduate students with college level playing experience and, in most cases, teaching experience.
Lohikan is a no-pressure, noncompetitive camp. Our sports program concentrates on skill development, recreational play and having fun with friends. Instruction is important and skill level certifications are awarded in all of our activities. However, campers are never forced into uncomfortable situations where there's a possibility of being "shown up" or embarrassed. Camp Lohikan is known for its atmosphere of support and encouragement. We want our campers to feel free to try new activities and not worry about being the "best".
