After 42 incredible years directing Camp Lohikan, I have made the difficult decision to step down and sell the Camp Lohikan property. I have entered into an agreement to sell the camp to our neighboring camp, Camp Morasha. The sale is expected to be finalized in 2027, making the summer of 2026 our final season of camp operations in Lake Como.
This is certainly bittersweet news. Camp Lohikan has been my life's work, and for 70 years it has been a place where generations of campers and staff have grown, laughed, challenged themselves, and formed friendships that have lasted a lifetime. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been part of that story. At the same time, I look to the future with great excitement.
Beginning next summer, I will be joining my brother Matt at Lake Greeley Camp, while my brother Brian continues to direct Camp Cayuga. Our three family camps have always worked closely together and share the same camping philosophy, the same cabin-structured/elective program format and offer a similar wide variety of arts, sports and adventure activities.
Lake Greeley Camp and Camp Cayuga also feature many of Lohikan's cherished traditions, including Camp Olympics, the Chief’s Trail, Weekly Campfires and awards like Five-Year Jackets and Ten-Year Paddles!
While Camp Lohikan's chapter is coming to a close, the friendships, traditions, and values we have built together are not ending. They will continue through our camp family, and I warmly invite our campers, parents, alumni, and staff to become part of this next chapter at Lake Greeley Camp and Camp Cayuga. I truly hope the friendships that began at Lohikan will continue to grow for years to come.
To everyone who has been part of the Camp Lohikan family over the past 70 years, thank you. Thank you for your trust, your enthusiasm, your friendships, and the countless memories we've shared. It has been the honor of my life to serve as your camp director, and I will always be grateful for the experiences we've had together.
Camp Lohikan may be closing, but its spirit will live on in the people who made it special and in the traditions that will continue for generations to come. Thank you for 70 extraordinary years.
