Program Philosophy

Lohikan's tennis program philosophy is based upon our experience that teaching with fun is the best way for kids to learn. When campers arrive at the tennis center they are evaluated and placed in one of three ability levels. Class sizes are never larger than 4 campers to 1 instructor. This ensures that everyone receives enough individual attention to maximize the learning experience.

Beginner Program Level 1: Instruction concentrates upon on-court stroke analysis, drill and play situations, corrective techniques, and the use of the ball machines for individual practice.

Intermediate Program Level 2: This level is reserved for the intermediate players who are ready to make the transition between lessons and competitive tennis. Participants are instructed in singles and doubles play strategies. Emphasis is placed on drills designed to improve stroke mechanics, reflexes, anticipation and footwork.

Advance Program Level 3: The advanced program focuses on drilling to enhance and groove strokes. The improvement of mental toughness is also stressed for better match play, footwork and anticipation.

Lohikan's Competitive Tennis Clinic is a five day clinic scheduled every 2 weeks during the summer. The clinic is designed for intermediate and advanced players and concentrates on improving the individual's playing skills for singles and doubles play.
